Policy Updates in November 2025

The Senior Policy Council and President have approved the following policies:

Non-Retaliation Policy (Revised, effective November 19, 2025): This policy was updated to clarify the definitions of “retaliation,” “protected activity,” and “adverse action.” The purpose statement was updated to further encourage reporting. This policy applies to all campuses, including UConn Health.

Export Control and Economic Sanctions Policy (Revised, effective November 19, 2025): This policy was updated to align with the current University policy template, reflect the accurate service unit (Office of the Vice President for Research – Research Security), and add the definition of “export control laws.” This policy applies to all campuses, including UConn Health.

Minimum Class Size Enrollment Policy (New, effective December 15, 2025): This new policy was developed to establish academic operational baselines for the efficient use of physical, fiscal, and personnel resources. The policy applies to all campuses, except UConn Health.

Policy on Alleged Misconduct in Research (Revised, effective January 1, 2026): The revised policy aligns UConn’s procedures with the 2024 federal regulatory updates by adding a formal assessment stage, expanding required content for inquiry and investigation reports, extending timelines, clarifying definitions, and granting respondents greater access to records. It also consolidates UConn and UConn Health into a single policy, provides more flexibility in who may conduct inquiries, and clarifies confidentiality rules and institutional authority. The revised policy applies to all campuses, including UConn Health, and will be published on the January 1, 2026 effective date.
